For Jewish Farmer Network's fourth annual conference, Cultivating Culture: A Gathering of Jewish Farmers, we are thrilled to uplift a diverse and dynamic group of Jewish farmers, scholars and food systems professionals to present on their area of expertise. We are looking for sessions that center practical farm skills, Jewish agricultural wisdom, food justice, and the intersections of the three.
December 14-17, 2023 in Santa Rosa, CA
We are hopeful that this conference will be held in person, but with the ever-unfolding complexities of planning in wake of a global pandemic, who knows!
The safety of our community comes first.
At a time of unprecedented availability of both farming and Jewish content, we want to uplift sessions that center the intersections of the two. Do you have something to teach, share or curate that is within the rich and varied overlap in the venn-diagram of Judaism and agriculture?
We can't wait to learn from you.
We are not yet sure whether this conference will be virtual or in person. You'll have an opportunity to indicate whether you would want to share your offering virtually, in person, or both.
Our conference committee will work on curating a diverse slate of session topics that together will offer a holistic and dynamic understanding of Jewish agrarian wisdom and history – and the ways it can inform our modern farming practices.
We believe that everyone is an expert and that we all have some special wisdom to share with this emergent community. If you have any fear/reservations about submitting a proposal, feel free to contact Shani Mink at shani@jewishfarmernetwork.org
Proposals are due May 31st, 2023
Conference Committee
We are currently looking for people from our community to join a committee of 12 to help steward the conference. Could this be you? We sure hope so!
As part of this committee you would:
1.) Steward the conference schedule, set priorities for topics covered, help reach out to teachers and facilitators, and moderate sessions during the conference
2.) Promote the conference over social media and through talking to, texting, and emailing your friends!
This is an estimated time commitment of 5 hours/ a month and you will get either free or highly reduced conference registration depending on whether the conference is in person or virtual.
